The year 2023 was a watershed moment for Rotolito and Nava Press: we chose to analyse, measure and report on all processes, activities, flows and governance in terms of sustainability.
So, after 6 months of hard work involving all of our senior managers and heads of department, assisted by Nativa and in accordance with the BIA – Benefit Impact Assessment – criteria, we are pleased to publish our first Sustainability Report.
It was a challenging but rewarding time, and we are genuinely excited about the next stages in our path towards B Corp certification.
The assessment phase demonstrated that it is in our DNA to stay ahead of the times, to make production phases and governance processes more efficient, and to constantly innovate in order to be ready, even before a good practice becomes law.
From January 2026, reporting will in fact be mandatory for companies like ours. We want to make sure we’re at the forefront of documenting the reduction of negative impacts and improvement of positive, environmental and social ones.
Our Sustainability Report covers all aspects of our organisation and demonstrates how, in each area (environment, labour, community, clients and suppliers, governance), we operate under a business model based on interdependence, collaboration with our stakeholders and continuous improvement.
Clean energy, protection of water resources, raw materials from certified sources and people’s well-being are the focus of our attention and a manifestation of our respect for ecosystems.
Respect for the quality of life and work of our human resources and collaborators located around the world, is what we care about most, aware of the value of cultural diversity and the benefits it brings to our entire organisation.
Over the coming years, we will endeavour to reach increasingly ambitious milestones, building upon our existing strengths. Our primary objective is to consolidate our leadership by setting the benchmark for sustainability within our industry, in addition to becoming a trusted partner for both our domestic and international clients, as well as our suppliers, who have entrusted us with the production of millions of books, periodicals, advertising materials and luxury packaging for nearly half a century. We will invite them to our tables for discussion and to make recommendations, and we will launch projects and initiatives that redefine the purpose and beauty of printed knowledge as an absolute asset for humanity. We aim to be bearers and disseminators of the idea that the volumetric restoration of forests and woodlands is key to combating global warming, which causes climate change. Our affirmation echoes the sentiments of esteemed scientists: the foremost imperative for safeguarding the Earth and its inhabitants is the strategic reforestation of our planet, putting a stop to widespread and unregulated deforestation.
On our part, since paper is the primary raw material for our products, we are committed to educating our clients to use only FSC or PEFC certified paper sourced from responsibly managed forests.
We want our smart report to be a clear, transparent and obvious representation of how we work, innovate and ensure quality without causing harm to anything or anyone.
We want the communities in the regions where our 6 production plants are located to view our efforts as open spaces for sharing solutions and benefits, for displaying mutual respect and support.
We also encourage new generations to pursue our magnificent and historic craft, making our age-old expertise available through our Academy projects, knowing that no device will ever be able to equal the beauty, poetry and emotions elicited by leafing through printed pages.
As long as humanity exists, there will be love for books and paper objects.
